Stephanie Bangert Darrin D. Gitisetan Here is the documentation for the birth of DIAL (Diversity In Academic Libraries) a CARL Interest Group. A petition signed by 21 CARL members, a statement of purpose, and a draft of the bylaws for DIAL are enclosed. I will serve as the Liaison and am in the process of organizing a Steering Committee of founding members of DIAL. The Committee will invite interested librarians to an initial planning meeting some time in the Fall and will decide on officers and DIAL's first program. So far, several of my colleagues have expressed interest in DIAL and have joined CARL in order cot be able to participate. The notice placed in the recent CARL Newsletter was also helpful in spreading the word. I would appreciate it very much if you would communicate the creation of DIAL to our colleagues and other interested librarians.
